Athena Gourniezaki is a psychologist-psychotherapist, a graduate of the Department of Psychology of the Faculty of Philosophy of Sofia University with a specialization in Clinical & Counseling Psychology. She then continued her postgraduate studies at the University of Crete in Health Psychology.
In recent years, she has worked at the “Aglaia & Panagiotis Kyriakou” General Children’s Hospital in the Inter-Liaison Child Psychiatry Department with young patients of the Pediatric Clinics, children and adolescents with serious psychosocial difficulties and at the Child Psychiatry Clinic with the families of hospitalized children.
In the past, she has worked in the community, including in individual sessions and actions to promote mental health and prevent mental illnesses in children, adolescents & adults at the Society of Social Psychiatry & Mental Health-EKPS&PSY and the Society for Regional Development of Mental Health-EPAPSY.
She continues her scientific training and education, participating in psychoanalytic approach seminars of the Society for Child & Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, the International Winnicott Association-Hellenic Group, etc.
She currently maintains a private office and collaborates with special treatment centers for children, adolescents and their families.
She collaborates with Vima Koino, providing individual sessions to adolescents and adults.
