Dimitris Tsekouras is a Mental Health Counselor and Psychotherapist, and a certified Regular Member of the Hellenic Association for Counselling (HAC).
On an academic level, he is a PhD Candidate at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (UoA / Department of Early Childhood Education), with research work focused on the psychoanalytic field. He holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Counselling (UoA / Democritus University of Thrace / University of Crete). He is a graduate of the School of Philosophy of UoA (Department of Philosophy, Pedagogy, and Psychology) with a major in Psychology. His scientific work includes a significant number of academic presentations at Greek Universities. He has delivered guest lectures at the National Technical University of Athens, the University of West Attica, the Democritus University of Thrace, the University of Patras, and UoA, focusing on issues regarding counseling, inclusion and social identities. His research profile is bolstered by publications (e.g., in the reputable international Journal of LGBT Youth, Taylor & Francis).
His clinical approach is psychodynamic, as he has received specialized, long-term training in the Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic approach. He holds a Professional Diploma in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (Mediterranean College) and has attended three cycles of lectures by the Hellenic Psychoanalytic Society. Additionally, he has attended the educational programs of “Epekeina – Psychoanalytic Practice” and psychoanalytic seminars by “Galinos”. Furthermore, he has participated in study groups of the “Freud-Lacan” Psychoanalytic Association. His clinical work is framed by psychoanalytic supervision with an emphasis on the dynamics of transference and countertransference. He has also received specialized training in other modalities (e.g., Art Therapy at the University of the Aegean).
Professionally, he maintains a private practice providing psychotherapeutic services. Concurrently, he holds the position of Head of the Internship Office and Coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Seminar at the MSc in “Counselling”, contributing to the training of new counselors. He is also a trainer at the Hellenic Association of Peer Counselling (ESYOM). His experience includes collaborations with significant organizations such as KETHEA Strofi and ELIZA Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. His social impact is further reinforced by the founding and coordination of the Solidarity Group “Rainbow Seniors” of which he serves as Vice President.
